The acrid tang of cordite curls through the thinning Belgian border morning mist as a Stuka’s signature wail splits the air, its bomb detonating against a distant sandbag guard post and sending splinters of wood and clods of dirt raining down.

Your 12-man Allied infantry squad hunkers behind a crumbled stone border wall, M1 Garands clutched tight, their faces etched with the terror of men who’d only heard rumors of the Blitzkrieg’s speed—no one expected German armor to punch through the Ardennes this fast, this far north.

Your commanding officer, Lieutenant Hale, skids to your side, shoving a stack of M9 antitank rifle grenades into your arms, his uniform streaked with ash and dirt.

“Those lead Panzers are 90 seconds out if we don’t slow them!The rest of the platoon is cut off to the south.What’s our move, corporal?”

Split the squad: send half to lay explosive charges on the road to block the Panzers’ advance while the rest stay behind the stone wall to lay covering fire
Muster the entire squad behind the stone wall to coordinate a focused volley of all antitank grenades at the lead Panzer's thin top armor as it crests the nearby hill
Order the full squad to fall back 200 yards to the dense tree line to set up a flanking ambush, avoiding being pinned against the border wall by the advancing armor
